Meet Your Guide
Welcome to Hawk Entrepreneurs
Before you read a single word, hear it from Michael Dinkins himself — why he built this, who it's for, and what makes it different from everything else out there.
"True business success requires more than a great product — it involves understanding how to solve a customer's problem, fulfill a desire, or create a valuable transformation."
Lived Experience
Three Stories. One Truth.
Before you take advice, ask who lived it.

Chapter 01
Taylor Electric
A Century of Family Entrepreneurship
"My entrepreneurial journey didn't start in a classroom — it started on the south side of Chicago, at age 14, loading wire into a pickup truck for Taylor Electric Company, our family business."
I hauled materials up 10 and 12 flights of stairs to deliver them to electricians on job sites. I learned business from the ground up — literally. Over the years, I worked across every layer of the company, from operations to finance. I helped my mother establish the accounting systems and later helped the next generation access capital and position the business for long-term sustainability. Today, Taylor Electric is celebrating over 105 years of continuous operation, now led by the next generation — Kendra Dinkins, Michelle Dinkins, and Brian Taylor.
That's not a theory about entrepreneurship. That's a family legacy built across generations, economic cycles, and real sacrifice.

Chapter 02
General Electric
From Student to Teacher
"After graduating from Michigan State University with a finance degree, I entered General Electric's Financial Management Program — one of the most rigorous corporate training programs in the world. I graduated with honors."
But what changed everything was what came next: 17 years at GE and GE Capital, working under the legendary Jack Welch, where I learned how to evaluate, finance, and integrate businesses at the highest level. I was directly involved in more than 50 mergers and acquisitions. I didn't just study deals — I closed them, across multiple industries, on a global basis. Eventually, GE invited me back to teach the very program that launched my career. I spent five years training the next generation of financial leaders.
That experience taught me something most entrepreneur gurus will never understand: it's not enough to know what to do — you have to become someone who does it consistently.
— Michael Dinkins

Chapter 03
The Boardroom
Seeing Business from the Top
"Today, I serve on the boards of three publicly traded companies — Community Health Systems, Aebi Schmidt, and Crane NXT — as well as the National Council on Compensation Insurance."
I've also served as CFO for three public companies and held leadership roles within a Goldman Sachs–affiliated firm. Sitting in those boardrooms, I've seen firsthand what separates businesses that endure from those that collapse. It's never just the product. It's the mindset of the people leading it — their discipline, their clarity, and their willingness to adapt.
That's exactly what I bring to Hawk Entrepreneur: not theory from a textbook, but lived experience from the boardroom, the family business, and every level in between.

Before You Take Advice,
Ask Who Lived It.
Michael Dinkins doesn't teach from theory. He comes from a family that has lived entrepreneurship for more than a century. He spent 17 years at GE and GE Capital working under the legendary Jack Welch, served as CFO for three public companies, and currently sits on the boards of Community Health Systems, Aebi Schmidt, and Crane NXT.
He is also the President of Dinkins Financial, an Elder at Church LYFE in Allen, Texas, and the creator of Thinking Matters on YouTube — where he explores the intersection of faith, business, and personal discipline.

"Hawks don't hope. They plan and then they execute. Hawks know what they're looking for. They know where to search. When they see it, they execute."
— Michael Dinkins
